Een geweldige baan!

Ondertussen is het al weer ruim twee maanden geleden dat ik bij Medistad Medical BV begon te werken. Inmiddels ben ik bekend met de producten, de leveranciers en klanten van het bedrijf. De gezellige collega's en de leuke zakenreizen zorgen er voor dat de tijd voorbij vliegt. Zo ging ik onlangs als bezoeker naar de Biotechnica beurs en waren we met Medistad onlangs met een grote nieuwe stand aanwezig op de Medica beurs 2007.

Hoera, ik heb een baan! Vanaf 1 oktober ga ik aan de slag bij Medistad Medical BV in Medemblik. Na weken van onderhandelen met diverse werkgevers heb ik dan eindelijk een keuze gemaakt. Bij Medistad sta ik als technisch projectmanager voor een grote uitdaging. Ik heb er reuze veel zin in!

Eindelijk heb ik een nieuwe telefoon! Mijn antieke Siemens telefoon vertoonde al enige tijd bijzonder vreemd gedrag.
Aangezien Ward een overdosis Sony Ericsson k750i in zijn bezit had heb ik er één van mogen ontvangen.
Wat een genot met een telefoon waar je 2 megapixel foto's kan maken, MP3 muziek op kan luisteren, een bluetooth
headset op kan aansluiten en bovendien ook nog eens mee kan bellen! Met een geheugenkaartje van 1GB is het allemaal erg confortabel.
Met een bluetooth dongle voor de laptop lijken de mogelijkheden oneindig. Zodra ik in de buurt van de laptop kom worden
mijn gegevens automatisch met de laptop gesynchroniseerd, geweldig!

Het overzicht met dagaanbiedingen op www.dailyoffers.nl trekt iedere dag weer meer bezoekers. Volgens de statistieken is de hoofdpagina inmiddels al 129.914 bekeken! Ik hoop dat het succes de komende tijd alleen maar zal groeien. Terwijl andere aanbieders van een overzicht met dagaanbiedingen een steeds sterker commercieel karakter krijgen probeer ik het overzicht telkens weer van meer gemakken te voorzien. Zo kunnen 18 plus aanbiedingen gefilterd worden en kan de volgorde van de aanbiedingen door de bezoeker zelf worden bepaald. Ook biedt dailyoffers.nl als enige een RSS feed met alle dagaanbiedingen.

MSc BMEng. zkt uitdagende internat. multidisc. uitdaging! Op 21 juni ben ik afgestudeerd en nog steeds heb ik geen arbeidscontract mogen ondertekenen. Iedere dag werk ik mijn profiel op monsterboard bij en dat is gelukkig niet zonder succes. Bijna dagelijks bellen bedrijven en wervingsbureau's voor uiteenlopende functies, echter nog steeds zonder het gehoopte succes.
Ondertussen heb ik ook creatief gezien niet stil gezeten. Zo heb ik een website ontwikkeld voor de schoenmakerij van Ben Benerink in Zutphen. De beste schoenmaker van Nederland heeft al jaren een prachtige winkel in "de beste binnenstad van Nederland 2006", maar een eigen website ontbrak nog. Ook de zonneboot van de Hanzehogeschool had nog geen officiele website. Deze boot, aangedreven door uiterst geavanceerde technologie, gebruikt uitsluitend energie van de zon om zich te verplaatsen. Een prachtig voorbeeld van de mogelijkheden die zonne-energie biedt. Dit initiatief, grotendeels gefinancieerd door commerciele instellingen, heeft natuurlijk ook een plek op het Internet nodig. Daar draag ik graag aan bij. In mijn conceptontwerp is de identiteit van de Hanzehogeschool duidelijk herkenbaar. De duidelijke verdeling van de inhoud, een heldere navigatie en plaats voor een overweldigende hoeveelheid beeld en geluid biedt het een online presentatie van hoogstaande kwaliteit. Hierover hopelijk binnenkort meer!

Het zit er op! Op 2 juli heb ik mijn afstudeerstage mogen presenteren tijdens de lunchmeeting van de afdeling BioMedical Engineering van het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen. Daarmee heb ik mijn Master opleiding tot Biomedical Engineer officieel afgerond. Alhoewel de diploma- uitreiking pas op 27 september plaatsvindt is het vakantiegevoel er niet minder om. Echt vakantievieren kan alleen nog niet, want eerst wil ik nog eventjes een baan vinden. Als één van de eerste Biomedical Engineers die dit jaar zullen afstuderen ben ik bijzonder benieuwd naar de behoefte voor Biomedical Engineers op de arbeidsmarkt.
Tussen het schrijven van sollicitatiebrieven door is er gelukkig nog wel tijd voor enig vertier. Na een gezellige vrijdagavond bij Roel (Roel op YouTube) en Selina, gingen Ward en ik zaterdag naar de film "Ex-drummer" in de RKZ bios. Wat een fantastische film! Verder was er op zondag, ter gelegenheid van de 86ste verjaardag van mijn oma, onder andere een rondvaart over de Berkel in Zutphen georganiseerd. Al met al was het dus een top weekend!

Gisteren werd www.dailyoffers.nl alweer voor de veertigduizendste keer bekeken. Echt ongelofelijk! Het overzicht met aanbiedingen op Dailyoffers.nl bevat inmiddels meer dan twintig verschillende dagaanbiedingen. Ondertussen wordt er hard gewerkt aan een aantal technische aanpassingen die het in de toekomst mogelijk moeten maken om wat extra functies te creeeren voor de bezoekers. Gezellige muziek op Radio International

Enige tijd geleden heb ik de website van Radio International voorzien van een nieuw content management systeem, om precies te zijn het Joomla 1.0 open source content management systeem. Daarmee kunnen de presentatoren van het radio programma zelf de website beheren. Ook heeft de website een nieuw uiterlijk gekregen. Een frisse kleur blauw en afbeeldingen van de omgeving van Katwijk geven de website een vrolijke aanblik. Bovendien heeft de website nu ook een podcast, zodat je de afleveringen van de Radio International show automatisch kan laten downloaden.

Vorige week is de website www.dailyoffers.nl gepubliceerd. Dailyoffers.nl biedt een overzicht van alle dagaanbiedingen van de diverse aanbieders.
Aangezien het aantal websites in deze sector zich met een razend tempo uitbreidt denk ik met deze website aan een nieuwe behoefte te voldoen. Het doel van de website is simpelweg het bieden van een overzicht van alle aanbiedingen die op dat moment gelden. Het is op geen enkele wijze de bedoeling om de website een commercieel karakter te geven of om reclame te maken voor specifieke websites. De website zal een uitsluitend objectief karakter hebben, alhoewel bezoekers de mogelijkheid krijgen om hun mening te uiten over verschillende aspecten van de diverse websites. Using a Dutch prepaid cell phone during my internship in Washington DC wouldn't be the most cost efficient thing to do. So, I browsed the Internet in search of the cheapest cell phone available, combined with reasonable costs per minute. Cingular (soon to be AT&T) proved to provide such a complete package. I purchased a Sony Ericsson J220a with a GoPhone Pay As You Go deal, including $10 PIN to get started, for the absolute bottom price of $19.99. Today I received the package, nicely wrapped and provided with lots of information. The package I ordered should include a refurbished cell phone, though at first glance the phone doesn't give any suggestion of it being used previously. So, I'm a happy new Cingular customer.

I am very proud to announce that yesterday I have passed my car driving exam. Now, the only thing is that I will need to wait for a week before my official license card will be ready and I will be officially authorized to drive a car. In the past people only needed to wait for 15 minutes. Recently, the goverment has introduced a new and improved license card. I don't need an improved license card! I simply want to drive a car instantly!

Although I have never taken the time to post a small message about it, you should know that I am also an Xbox owner. Now that you are officially notified about this highly important fact, I should announce another recently purchased product. I have bought an Logitech Precision Vibration feedback wheel for the Xbox. It is a full 10 inch diameter wheel that, accoring to the Logitech website, should enable me to "enjoy realistic and comfortable driving". It has "Convenient Controls at Your Fingertips", "2 Wheel-Mounted Paddles" and "Textured Gas and Brake Pedals". I am really looking forward to experience this awesome specs. Especially because I could purchase it for only €9,95 at www.1dayfly.nl.
LAVOD LFV-438 Digital Audio Player

This weekend my good friend Maarten (Band member of www.banduitlent.nl) suprised me with a very nice gift. He bought me the LAVOD LFV-438 Digital Audio Player with 2GB of memory. It is a digital audio player that supports the MP3 and WMA audio format. Since I could hardly find any information on the web, I will give a short summary of its specifications and it's most important features.
When you open the package, you will first notice how small and chic the LFV-438 looks. Though, the looks of the headphone is rather contrasting. The headphone is connected by 2.5mm plug, which means you can't use any regular headphone. Although the sound quality is good, its comfort is rather poor. So, you might want to consider buying another headphone. A mini USB connector (USB 2.0) is hidden behind a small and fragile rubber flap for file transfer an charging. The 1.8inch lcd display with 65000 colors presents nice looking, not over-animated, colorful menus. It has no FM radio, although it does support .TXT ebooks and video playback, though only the SMV short film format is supported. You will not find a key lock button, though, the mechanical keys require an amount of force that should not occur accidentally. The integrated microphone is strangely position next to the USB connector, so you could easily cover the microphone while holding the product. There are no volume control buttons, volume can only be adjusted in the menu.
The menu is controlled by the up and down arrows and the OK button at the middle top of controls. The menu structure is simple and straightforward, though a back button would not have been superfluous.
Although the LAVOD LFV-438 has some flaws it should be said that it does look extremely chic with the chrome backside and the shiny front. It's light weight, high storage capacity, fancy look and low price make it a true "wannehave". The LFV-438 kan be purchased (in The Netherlands) at Trekpleister and Lukas Kramer/Makro.

The First Annual Biomedical Engineering Biomaterials Event

Friday January 19th 2007 the First Annual Biomedical Engineering Biomaterials Event (ABEBE) took place. This event is an initiative for BioMedical Engineering Master students in their final year organised by themselves. A diner at Brasserie Groen as a tasteful start of the evening and a sportive continuation of the evening at the bowling alley made the evening a complete success. Hanzehogeschool Reunion

In 2005 I finished my Bachelors study in Mechanical Engineering. The group of students with which I followed the study program for three years was great. We had a wonderfull tradition of going to the pizzeria every once in a while. Back in October I got an email saying that there would be another diner at our favorite pizzeria to catch up with each other. And so it happend. On friday October 13th we had a diner in our pizzeria "Italia". It was a great evening. Nearly everyone was there: Alco Poppinga, Niek Slob, Wouter Tel, Auke Oosterhof, Robert Schreurs, Thijs Hunneman, Roy Stevens, Maarten Trilsbeek, Ilja Ritsema, Wout Beukema, Gerwin Engels, Sander de Boer, Ruurd Jelmer Huizenga, Jeroen Greidanus, Vincent Raven, and many others. Yesterday I've decided to already start buying some VO-IP gadgets to communicate with Suzanne, my family and friends while I'm in the United States. At least, I didn't expect to be buying really awesome gadgets. Though, now its seems, the most simple headsets are no longer sold as being headsets. No, nowadays even the most simple models have features such as NCAT technology! As soon as I experienced this Noise Cancelling Amplification Technology I will report about it.
